On Tuesday, I was invited to a press conference unveiling the new X•tink•shun exhibit presented by the Philadelphia Zoo in partnership with the world-renowned Jim Henson Company. X•tink•shun is a new puppet show which tells the story of endangered or threatened species via live theatrical puppet presentations. They’ve come from around the world to save it.
Shows will be presented every half hour from 10:00am-4:00pm on five eco stages throughout the park. To expand on the fun, there is also an interactive component with the Save the Species parade where guests can march and rally the message against destruction of habitats and poaching.
The theme song, Hail the Creatures! was performed by Grammy Award-winning artist Dan Zanes. You can see a portion of the song/performance in this brief clip I filmed on my phone.
It was such a delightful performance, and we look forward to returning to the zoo to see it again.
If you’re planning to visit the Philadelphia Zoo between April 9th and October 31st this year, you must check out X•tink•shun. It’s free with your park admission, and a great way to educate our children on an important topic.
No compensation was received for this post. I received free passes for the day to see the unveiling.
