I had just enough time to run into the house to grab my camera.
This hawk (?) was posed like this for several minutes. Ran in to get my telephoto lens but it disappeared before I could get a closer look.
Dishing on the best in food, fashion and family fun!

oh my it looks like it is going to pick up the house!
That would have made me run for my camera too!
From this angle it looks more like a Turkey Vulture to me. We have a lot of them in Northern Illinois.
Don’t be scaring me like that! What a giant wingspan!
Ah, that’s a turkey vulcher and my guess is he either spotted something he wanted for lunch or just finished lunch. Earlier in the year when I was coming home from the doctors, these same birds were all over the roof of our house and there were about 10 more scattered in the yard (when I zoomed in with my camera phone and saw they were vulchers I thought somebody upstairs was trying to tell me something!) Those on the ground slowly flew to the side yard but those on the roof stayed-they finally flew when I ran in and came out with my better camera. I found out from my husband later that there had been a dead rabbit by our mailbox the day before-um, wasn’t there when I went for the mail! I guess its natures way, but yuck!
He is a beast!!! We have something (hawks or turkey vultures) that are in a tree near our home. They are gigantic!
This is an EXCELLENT shot!
wow scary!
Hmm..wonder what he was up to!
You took a great shot! I love hawks. We get them hunting for squirrels in our backyard occasionally.
Whew! I would have run for my camera too. Great picture!
