Christmas is such a magical time of year. I love experiencing the holiday joy through the eyes of my two children, and I try to soak in each and every wondrous moment because I know they will not be this little forever. One of our favorite family activities of the season is baking together. The kids love to help me in the kitchen.
We are always using our mixer for baking cakes and cookies. It makes the process so much easier. Make sure you enter this awesome sweepstakes!
There was no shortage of baking supplies at Walmart. After accessing our money-saving coupons, we found Pillsbury™ Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix, M&M’s® Holiday Peanut and the new M&M’s® White Peppermint and M&M’s® Hot Chocolate. We also picked up a gallon of Great Value Milk because nothing goes better with cake and cookies than a cold glass of fresh milk.
Unfortunately, hungry children and families do not have access to nutrient rich milk because it’s rarely donated to food banks. I can’t imagine having to go without it, and this is such an important reminder to be thankful for our many blessings and give back to those in need. For a small donation at pourmilklove.com, The Great American Milk Drive will deliver a gallon of milk to a needy family in YOUR local community.
My plan was to make White Peppermint Blondies, but my kids were begging to use the Funfetti® Holiday Cake Mix we picked up. First we melted a stick of butter, then we added the cake mix, eggs and peppermint extract, mixing well with an electric beater.
Finally, we stirred in about 1/2 cup of M&M’s® White Peppermint. The mixture is very thick so it had to be spread out manually. We used a 9″x9″ square pan.
Make sure you let the cake cool completely for at least a half an our before cutting into squares.
