The moment Jack took note of toys, he was bonkers for vehicles. Trucks, trains, construction equipment – you name it, he loves it. I don’t know how he was delivered to us with this predisposition but I think it’s the most charming thing ever…along with everything else he does, naturally. We celebrated his second birthday last week and one of the presents he received was a Vtech Switch & Go Dino, which VTech was kind enough to provide.
We selected Attila the Ankylosaurus™ for our Jack Jack’s big birthday, knowing that it’s both a tow truck and a cool dinosaur.
The LCD screen that fronts the vehicle allows us to toggle driver voices (there is a lady driver on there, too!) and the buttons prompt sounds, expressions and, in dino mode, facts about the dinosaurs; ours even has a tail swing button! On his birthday morning, he couldn’t stop saying “woah!” over and over as he played with his new high tech big boy toy. Couldn’t have made me happier.
The Switch & Go Dino toys are convertible from a vehicle to a dinosaur and back again in a few steps. Jack appreciates it most as a vehicle, because that’s what he likes best, but I can see how this toy will grow with him as he ages and develops new interests. Dinosaurs are among them now, but not to the extent of trucks. Attila has a towable section that acts as a backplate in dino mode; in vehicle mode, Jack enjoys piling all sorts of little treasures in the cart to tow around.
What I love best about the Switch & Go toy is the hysterical driver comments. “Come on, bud, we’ve got work ta do!” and “Hey, buddy, this is a construction zone!” I don’t know why but it cracks me up to hear the drivers whistling, grunting, to hear the vehicle itself making noise, and then when it is in Dino mode, seeing the dinosaurs expressions on the digital display, I find this toy so fun. Two weeks later and I’m still chuckling to hear the driver spouting off from the play area. How many kids’ toys can you say that about?
