No matter what the device is, my kids can locate its camera if there is one. I don’t know what it is about kids and cameras; they love them! Once they saw the VTech® Kidizoom® Action Cam they wanted to rip the box open. The pieces were pretty easy to assemble and for someone who usually defers to the husband for putting things together, I was surprised how quickly I was able to get it all ready to go.
The Kidizoom® Action Cam is a great durable camera for kids. Emma tested the Kidizoom® Smartwatch last year and it’s very similar to that in the way that it functions. It can be used on its own with the included wristband and that’s how we first played with it. The camera features a 1.4 inch color LCD screen, rechargeable battery, micro USB cable for data transfer and battery charging, and expandable memory up to 32GB with a microSD card. If you want to store your photos and videos, you’ll need a microSD card (sold separately). Buy one with the camera if you’re giving this as a gift.
Kids can take photos and video, or play the three built-in games. The games are pretty fun for the kids but they definitely take a back seat to camera functions. They can even use special photo frames and filters for added fun.
The accessories are what makes the Action Cam awesome. Included in the box, other than the camera itself is a waterproof case. Swimming season is long over, but once we open the pool this Spring, it’s on. I thought it difficult getting my daughter out of the water and it will be that much harder when she’s got a waterproof camera in hand.
The only problem we encountered with this device is the fighting over whose turn it was. If you want to avoid that, buy a Kidizoom® Action Cam for each one of your kids. Recommended age is 4+ years and it’s available in two colors, purple or black and yellow. MSRP: $59.99
