Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys – Bubble Ride CD Review

By Jennifer

Caroline loves all things dance.  As soon as she was pulling herself up to stand, she began to move to the music!

(Caroline groovin’ at 1 year old, 4/2011)

Usually in the car we just listen to whatever radio stations we like to listen to and she shakes along in her carseat.  We listen to enough Nick Jr. at home!  After I received an advance copy of Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys’  latest CD, “Bubble Ride”, we decided to give this children’s CD a try.

Immediately, I realized this was not a “typical” children’s CD. The variety of songs is great — some upbeat, some mellow, some even country-esque.  The beats and lyrics of all of the songs are definitely more sophisticated than typical children’s CD, while still capturing music children will definitely enjoy.

Caroline loved the animal-themed songs, particularly “Moomooheehawbaabaaneigh” and “Deep in the Jungle”.

My favorite song, however, is the bonus track – “Laila’s Rainbow Colors”.  It’s a recording of Vanessa’s daughter, Laila, singing her own original song.  So precious, and brought a big smile to my face.

Vanessa Trien has an impressive background – she holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University, and taught music at the Cambridge Montessori School.  Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys have been honored with national awards and adored by a legion of families in the greater Boston area.

“Bubble Ride”, Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys’  third studio CD, is set to be released on October 2, 2012 (VeeTree Records, $14.98, run time 47 minutes).
