My daughter loves animals. This could have something to do with the fact that we have an adorable golden retriever, Casey, and I decorated her nursery with every stuffed animal I could find. She also loves the aquarium and the zoo, yelling out all the animals she recognizes. So, when I’m looking at new books to buy, I always gravitate towards the ones with pictures of animals.
The Unlikely Friendships for Kids books are great because within each book are five stories, with beautiful illustrations and creative storytelling. I love that these books tell original stories and show actual photographs of the animals. Also, the font is large, so I don’t have to squint my eyes when i’m sitting in a dimly lit room winding down for bedtime.
Each book’s premise is heartwarming – animal friendships we don’t expect, showing that real friendships knows no bounds. The three books by Jennifer S. Hollard are pictured below:
Unlikely Friendships for Kids: The Monkey & The Dove.
Unlikely Friendships for Kids: The Dog & The Piglet.
Unlikely Friendships for Kids: The Leopard & The Cow.
The Unlikely Friendships for Kids series are great hardcover books, appropriate for all ages. The series would make a great gift if you’re looking for a children’s book beyond cartoon characters. Each book even includes an “Animal List” and “Word and Phrase List” in the back, which would be a great learning exercise for older kids.
Each hardcover book retails for $7.95.
