Tips for a Healthy Smile (Crest Pro Health + Oral B Giveaway)

By Heather

Crest-Oralb-Pro-Health-System
Winner – Jacquelyn C

I’m sure you’ve heard that Men’s Health magazine article on the worst cities for teeth in America.  Sadly, my local city of Philadelphia made that list.  Certainly nothing to brag about.

Crest and Oral-B are on a cross country mission dubbed the “4x Cleaner Crusade” visiting these worst-teeth cities armed with a digital plaque imaging system.  Personally, I’ve always been a fan of Crest Pro-Health and Oral-B brushes.  The Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste works great at fighting plaque and I love the Multi-Protection Rinse because it’s formulated without alcohol so there’s no sting.

Check out these four tips for a healthy smile from Dr. Robert Gerlach DDS, MPH:

1. You Probably Aren’t Brushing Long Enough: When you brush, don’t rush!
Take enough time to do a thorough job – up to 2 minutes each time, twice daily and change your toothbrush every three months to get the best at-home care. Additionally, proper oral care isn’t just about brushing! To achieve better oral health at home, try the Crest and Oral-B Pro-Health system of products which provides up to four times better plaque reduction with regular use vs. a regular manual toothbrush and regular anti-cavity toothpaste.

2. Freshen Your Mouth: To help reach the areas where brushing may have missed, use a mouth rinse that is proven to kill the germs that cause plaque and gingivitis.

3. Brushing Harder Isn’t Better: Many people believe that brushing harder leads to cleaner teeth, however this is not true. Brushing too hard can lead to gum recession and oversensitive teeth.

4. You Are What You Eat: Eating a balanced diet is extremely important for your overall oral health. Try to avoid eating too much sugar as increased sugar in the diet can increase the risk of tooth decay. Also, avoid drinking soda (both diet and regular) and snacking on hard or sticky candy throughout the day.

I don’t and it is horrible I know. My stepfather who was a dentist told me once if he had to choose between brushing or flossing, he would choose flossing. Brushing is good but flossing is better.

Nope, floss about 2-3 times a week! Always forget to. rach60504 AT gmail.com
