When it comes to accessories for the iPad, I tend to be a bit skeptical. My kids tend to become frustrated easily when something is not user-friendly to their abilities, so when I heard about Tiggly Shapes I was excited to try it out, but I had low expectations. As you will see from our review, we were blown away with this cool toy. The kids even fought over it, which is something I was certainly not expecting.
Tiggly Shapes come in this cool box, that when opened gives the appearance of an iPad with the four shapes within: Star, Triangle, Circle and Square. The box directs you to the website for instructions on how to download the 3 free Tiggly apps that can be used with the shapes. We started with Tiggly Stamp, where kids can create fun scenes simply by stamping onto the iPad screen with a shape. You have the ability to save the scenes and even record your own story that can be played back. Very cool!
Next, we tried Tiggly Safari. This was by far the kids’ favorite. The app shows an outline of the shape for kids to recognize and stamp with that shape. The farm scene is the most basic, with just one shape required to see the animal. The Jungle and Sea scenes are more complex, with two or more shapes being required before and animal is complete. Ryan loves the Jungle scene best, as the Sea scene was slightly more challenging because kids have to be quick and get the shape before it moves. He couldn’t contain his excitement as the shapes came alive before his eyes!
In Tiggly Draw, children can create their own shape people. You can add eyes, noes, mouth, lips, legs, even a hat. Some of the shapes will move and make fun sounds when added to your shape, and kids can also change the color scheme at any time.
And yes, my kids fought over the shapes. Even though Tiggly Shapes are designed for kids aged 18m-4 years, my 5-year-old wanted in. To keep the peace I gave them each two shapes and they took turns. This worked surprising well for a while.
The shapes are compatible with all iPad and iPad mini generations. Tiggly Shapes can be purchased for $29.95 and they come with a pouch to keep them together. Three apps are free, and there is a Christmas app that can be downloaded for $1.99. If my kids continue to show the same enthusiasm for this toy, you can bet on us purchasing that additional app. I hope that Tiggly adds more scenes to the current apps.

How cool is this? I don’t own a ipad, sucks for me but I’m thinking of getting on just because fun apps like this!
We got this before it was released and it’s still one of our most used apps to date. We even did the Christmas one and loved it. Can’t wait to see what they will come out with next.
Neat! I love finding new apps and games for my son, the iPad is a great treat for him.
