Whenever we go on vacation, I always say that I want to take advantage of the resort activities and yet we never do. We tend to visit theme parks which keep us too busy to go on leisurely walks and bike rides, fish or even swim in the resort pool. These are the things you do at Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Resort, and we couldn’t wait to enjoy a relaxing weekend getaway.
The 342 acre resort is located along the beautiful Eastern Shore in Cambridge, Maryland. Upon our arrival on Friday evening, we were welcomed with a warm blanket and a s’mores kit inside our delightful room featuring panoramic views of the Choptank River. The following morning greeted us with even better views.
This is the place to go when you’re seeking good old fashioned fun or rest and relaxation. We enjoyed a bit of both. There is truly something for everyone here including an 18-hole golf course, tennis and outdoor chess. Boat and bike rentals are available to hotel guests, but we decided to rent fishing poles and try fishing off of the marina dock which the kids have been asking to do for some time.
Even though we have a pool in our backyard at home, we don’t have the amazing slide that the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay offers. There are two other pools as well including an indoor pool and an infinity pool for adult use.
When we weren’t swimming we enjoyed playing miniature golf, another complimentary activity available to resort guests. The kids earned coins for participating in a relay race and so we took them to the arcade and to play games in the evening. There is also an outdoor fireplace which is lit every evening for guests to keep warm and roast marshmallows.
Both mornings we enjoyed breakfast at Water’s Edge Grill. The first morning we decided on the breakfast buffet (Kids 5 and under eat free), but nothing topped my crabcake benedict on Sunday morning.
After our tasty breakfast, I left my husband and kids at the indoor pool and headed for Spago, the resort spa where I enjoyed an incredible 60-minute massage.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay Resort and all four of us hope to return again in the near future!
