It took a while to get into the baby bathing groove with Emma. Even when we found our best method — a sling set into the kitchen sink, there needed to be two people involved in the process. It was slippery and difficult to keep her in place.
This is Emma getting washed up inside our kitchen sink at about 3 months of age. It worked, but being that she was a winter baby we always had to get through it quickly because she was obviously chilly.
The other day when we were browsing around a baby store, I noticed the puj tub on the shelf. It looked interesting. Could this be the solution to our baby bathing woes?
It looked a whole lot easier than the old sling in a sink method. When it arrived I admit I had my doubts. The puj has a rather unassuming look to it…but once you get one in your hands and see how it works, you’ll be impressed by this product.
The puj tub fits inside a smaller sink like a bathroom vanity sink or a pedestal. When you think about it, this is a nice cozy position for a newborn to be in since they are used to being cradled inside the womb for so many months. Plus, it’s easier to keep baby nice and warm in a bathroom during bath time. This is exactly the product that new parents need.
Made from a soft yet non-slip material, the puj tub has to be folded before placing it in the sink. I expected to have to fold and shimmy quickly so that it wouldn’t come unfolded, but there is no danger of that here. It actually snaps in place sturdily.
Once bath time is complete, you unfold the puj tub and store it flat. I love this for a few reasons. For one, it won’t take up precious bathroom space. Secondly, you can hang this flat to dry, so water won’t settle and become a breeding place for mold and mildew.
This handy device can be used for babies 0-6 months of age, or up to 17 pounds. This is a great tool to have for parents of newborns, as I remember all too well how tricky bath time could be before the baby is able to sit up on his or her own.
How much? The puj tub is available in aqua, green or white and costs $40.00. Save 25% on anything in the online store from now until April 30, 2012 with the following code: GIRLGONEMOM2012.

I’m glad you said it wasn’t slippery, because it does look that way. I just used a big sponge!

Interesting! I would definitely look into this if I were ever going to have another baby. (which is never;0)
