The Best Baby Shower: MamaRoo Review

By Heather

As a baby, Emma did spend a good amount of time in her swing, but she never liked any device that vibrated her body.  I  remember thinking, this is so unnatural.  4moms thought the same way when they came up with the MamaRoo.  Designed to mimic the motions of mom and dad, the MamaRoo bounces and sways for the ultimate soothing experience.

The MamaRoo is available in eight different color patterns.  I was sent the Green/Chocolate, a bold yet gender-neutral color.

There are five motions available:

Each motion is available in 5 speed settings.  In the photograph above, the speed bar is up to mode 3.  The motions are selected by using the up/down arrow on the right by the play button, and the speed is adjusted by the other up/down arrow at left.

This is a view of the entire unit base.  Notice the two built-in speakers which will play one of five nature sounds, or you can plug in an mp3 player to hear your own music.

The seat is adjustable along the bow-shaped bar as seen is this side view.  The orange level locks the seat in place.

A mobile is included, and features removable and reversible cloth balls featuring patterns of famous expressionist artwork.  They are in black and white on one side and full color on the reverse.

One thing parents will appreciate with this unit is just how easy it is to remove the fabric for cleaning.  It snaps at the base and top with zippers in between.  Bonus: It’s machine washable!

I filmed a brief video review demonstrating all of these features:

How much?  The MamaRoo sells for $199.99 as shown here in green nylon fabric.  There are plush versions available for $239.99.

I’m very excited about the MamaRoo, and eager to see how my son likes it, but I’m sold.
