I grew up at the Jersey Shore and I have always had a love for the water, even before I could swim. My family lived on a lagoon off of the bay and I learned to swim by wearing my waterskiing life jacket. One day I found that I just didn’t need it anymore and that was that.
Now I’m living with my own family on the mainland. We love the beach but also enjoy the pool; so much so that we decided to install an in-ground a couple of years ago. This is the summer my youngest will be a swimmer with out any aids, but in the meantime, SwimWays Swim Step 3 products are what we are relying on for safety in the water while he learns to use his arms and legs to get around and tread water.
The Power Swimr by SwimWays is like training wheels for the pool, which is perfect because it is just what my son needed as a next step before swimming on his own. It features 9 removable floats to so that you can adjust to your child’s needs as well as adjustable cords and a support strap to achieve a snug fit.
I love that this Power Swimr gives him the confidence to get out there and swim with full range of motion for his arms. He can even bend back to reload his water gun before pummeling his sister!
SwimWays is a leader in helping children learn to swim and promoting water safety. Once a year the SwimWays’ National Learn to Swim Day is held and the 6th annual recently took place.
If we have guests over who cannot swim on their own, my one requirement is that swim devices be worn whether they are life jackets or swim vests. We have a collection of SwimWays devices to have on hand for anyone who needs one. Here’s one of our young friends enjoying her Swim Vest which is part of the SwimWays Step 2 lineup. She felt confident swimming in the front zippered vest with sturdy foam inserts and UPF 50+ sun protection.
If you have a pool yourself, it’s a good idea to stock up and have jackets, vests and other floatation devices on hand for those guests who forgot to bring theirs. You’ll find SwimWays products when shopping at Toys R Us either in store in-store or online.

My little guy is getting brave in the water. I always make sure he has a life jacket on. Yet, I think something like this would give him the courage to learn to swim.

These are both cute and functional. Best of both worlds. We have a pool and I could totally use some extras floating around here for when the nieces and nephews come to visit.
