When I was a kid, my mom was always kicking me out of the house. “It’s too beautiful outside to be indoors,” she’d say. I think that was more the norm back in the day, because the neighborhood kids would also be banished from the house on nice days too. We didn’t mind though, because that meant it was time to lay manhunt, ride our bikes, play kickball in the street, and so on. It was fun releasing all those endorphins.
It’s important for kids to get outside playtime to enjoy the fresh air, get exercise and be kids. As an adult, I feel so mentally refreshed after going for a walk around the neighborhood and taking in the scenery. They must feel this way too, because my kids are always begging to go outside and play. At least for now – they are still young!
Even though they like to be outside, the same old activities – swings, sandbox, and power wheels – can get boring. We need to occasionally change it up a bit, and last week we put some new Zing Toys to the test. We’ve never been disappointed by Zing Toys ; their stuff appeals to kids of all ages. Emma and her older cousin love playing with the Z-Curve Bow we reviewed before.
This time we received the Zoom Zooka 4-in-1 which shoots 3 different nerf-style darts or water. We’ve illustrated it using just the darts because frankly, Emma is dangerous when it comes to water guns. It does pack a pretty good punch with shooting water, but the kids prefer the darts.
The Zoom Rocketz was an even bigger hit as Emma and her neighbor friends took turns stomping to see how high they could shoot the rocketz. Over and over and over again. It was fun to watch as a spectator and see how much these kids enjoyed playing with it. The best part about it is how easy it is to play with. Even my 15-month-old got into it. My neighbors went out the next day to get something similar for their kids, but were disappointed because it wasn’t as good as the Zoom Rocketz from Zing.
Here is a brief video to show you how they both work.
