Disney Costumes Fit for a Princess (Heather’s Review)

The leaves are turning, and the crisp air is finally making its debut. Perhaps the most fun holiday of the year is less than two weeks away: Halloween. And costumes are on everyone’s minds. I’m seeing photos on Facebook from proud parents, and also pleas for help in finding or making a certain costume.

This year, in my house, the excitement could wake up a mummy. Emma celebrated her first Halloween at 10 months, then last year she had some fun before ending up in the emergency room, but this year things are different. For once, Emma really gets it and so I’m looking forward to taking her out for a fun (and injury-free) Halloween night.

Normally I try and go for a warm costume for Halloween as it’s tends to get very chilly by then in New Jersey. However this year, we’ll be doing most of our Trick-or-Treating indoors at the local high school, so we picked a costume based on what Emma’s into now, Disney Princesses.

At this point, her two favorites are Belle and Rapunzel, but I have always loved Snow White’s dress and I knew Emma would love wearing it. I’ve seen a few in costume and department stores, but nothing matched the beauty and quality of the Storybook Snow White Costume from BuyCostumes.com.

Emma SnowWhite
Emma keeps telling me she doesn’t want to be Snow White but prefers the Beast (say what?), but when I put this dress on her, she is all smiles.

Complete with the dress, belt and cape, all we need are a pair of princess shoes. I thought about getting a special branded pair, but we really don’t need to. A simple pair of black or white heeled shoes will be perfect, since the dress is a tad long on Emma. I am glad that I went with a size 4 girls, instead of the 4T because costumes tend to run a little small. It fits perfectly and looks beautiful. I’m so happy that Emma can play Snow White this Halloween, and throughout the year as she’ll use this for dress-up play.

Shopping for Comfy Toddler Costumes (Megan’s Review)

It is my son Jack’s very first Halloween, so you know I’ve been pondering what he should dress up as since…oh, July or so. I have a major problem with most Halloween get ups, and stores in general, which is that they contain cheapy, stinky plastic and nearly see-through polyester in all their goods. All the accessories to complete a look are extra purchases, and the outfit seldom looks like it did on the packaging – that, after you spend nearly $100 on components.

I didn’t want that for Jack for a variety of reasons. He’s so young, I wanted him to be comfortable, first, and safe, of course. I looked here and there and found a lot of highly priced bagged costumes that looked good for one use, maybe. They were pricey and not terribly cute, though. We have quite a few Halloween playgroup parties as well as trick or treating; I’d ideally like this costume to last for those and then some, as we pray we’ll be blessed with more children someday. And besides, I wanted something special this year for Jack.

So I do what anyone our generation does these days: I hit Google. Almost immediately I came across BuyCostumes.com. The baby and toddler selection are incredible. They have exactly the type of quality I had hoped to find and didn’t know existed until I found this website. Lush fabrics, plush materials, exclusive designs and imaginative interpretations, all at BuyCostumes.com.

I was really, truly torn here. These costumes are so adorable and the selection is so fantastic, I really didn’t know which to choose. The pumpkin costume, or the lion? I agonized for weeks. Then, I found it. BuyCostumes.com introduced a new line of corduroy costumes, and I set eyes on the corduroy donkey and I just had to have it.

I wish I could sew myself, so I could make him something one of a kind, but ladies, who has the time anymore? BuyCostumes.com is the next best thing. They are crafted so well and are so beautiful, it will look like it was lovingly homemade. There will be enough plastic and polyester Superman costumes in our future – for now I’m splurging on the most adorable, fancy little costumes I can find – while he’ll still let me choose for him!!! The detailing is just beautiful.

Don’t miss their extensive adult and pet costume sections as well as their children, baby and toddler costumes. Their party section is also a place you can get lost for a few hours – you’ve been warned! Have a safe and happy Halloween :)
