So my diet didn’t exactly start on January 1st.

However, I have made the first step by joining the Nutrisystem Nation!  I’ve known a few folks who have  lost a great deal of weight on Nutrisystem years ago when the program was first launched, and I hear it has gotten even better than it once was.

This comes at the perfect time for me.  Emma just turned two, and my husband and I want to give her a brother or sister soon, but getting pregnant is not an option right now since my weight has gotten so out of control.  This time last year, I was doing pretty well.  Emma was a year old, and I was dropping that baby weight with a little exercise and discipline.  But when she started eating toddler food, so did I.  I found myself eating leftover chicken nuggets, stealing french fries and sharing in those bowls of mac n cheese.

As I started to lose my way, the scale reached new heights.  And so here I am today, not weighing much less than I did just after my daughter was born.  I feel ashamed and embarrassed that I’ve let myself go.  I have been living to eat, not eating to live, and I know I have to get myself back on track once and for all.  Still, I’m afraid I’m going to feel deprived with the prepackaged foods that are a part of this program.  I felt the sting today as I went grocery shopping for my family.  I’m not going to be able to eat that, or this, or that.

But what I’m excited about is that I’m committed to blog about my journey, which I think will make me accountable.  That may just be the motivation and discipline I need to stick to a healthier lifestyle.

Another thing that I think will help is having the individual servings laid out for me.  What I know will be difficult is cooking my weekly lasagna dish for the rest of the family and not being able to eat it.  I’ve got about 35 pounds to lose, but I am going to try and take it day by day and just get it done.

From what I’ve heard, it’s the support that will be key in keeping me informed and motivated.  I have been warmly welcomed to the Nutrisystem family and I already feel the support system at work.  For good measure, I’m following Nutrisystem on twitter and facebook – I’ll take all the support I can get.

181x135ChocCruBarCan you believe this is part of the Nutrisystem program?  Yeah, I think this just might work!

I’d love you to join the Nutrisystem Nation right along with me.  Follow the link or call 1-888-853-4689.

By participating in the Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program and will provided with the program and food at no cost to me.

Good luck!!! I’m trying to eat healthier and just be a healthier person in general. My GOAL is to get back to my pre-Manuel weight (where I was when my husband I first got married) so although that’s technically still considered over weight, it’s a small step in the right direction! :) I look forward to reading about your journey! And again, good luck! :)

For the record, I think you look great but there’s nothing wrong with improving your health and eating better!

If only you could feed your husband and child the same stuff. It’s so hard sitting around watching them eat the “real” food. How about starting a regular exercise routine to help burn the calories … i.e. regular power walks every day while pushing your stroller. Or watching an exercise video when your child is napping.
I’ve never been on a NutriSystem diet but I’ve heard they are good about giving you portions that make sure you don’t feel hungry. Hope I’ve heard correctly.
Do you have a friend who’s interested in doing the same diet at the same time? That might help motivate you as well.
Either way, good luck! I’m cheering you on from the sidelines.
