My son Ryan and I have both come down with a bad cold this week. The only thing worse than being sick yourself is when your child is not well. It is the hardest thing in the world to watch them suffer; that feeling of helplessness is a major downside in the world of parenting.
When my children are feeling under the weather, I first seek out the right medicine to help them feel better followed by lots of snuggles and comforts of home to get them through it. No one is more eager to see their illness pass than me, and when I see that first smile I know that it’s a sign they’re feeling themselves again and that’s when I feel whole. Their health means everything.
Even while we’re in the midst of these rotten cold symptoms, each time I treat his fever I see a sign of hope that this too shall pass. When he cracks his usual devilish smile and he starts becoming interested again in playing and eating, I get feel a sense of relief. His smile fills me with more joy than ever, and I realize what I took for granted before.
The makers of TYLENOL® were so inspired by the “feel better” smiles shared by moms everywhere, that they are partnering with How I Met Your Mother star and mom of two, Alyson Hannigan, to launch the SMILING IT FORWARD™ campaign. When you share a photograph that makes you smile at SmilingItForward.com, TYLENOL® will make a $1 donation to Children’s Health Fund.
I’m SMILING IT FORWARD™ because I know what it feels like to suffer emotionally when your child suffers physically, and I don’t want any parent to be unable to provide needed medical care for their child.
I have received information and products from McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNeil-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL®. This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks.

I HATE to see my kids sick – and it seems like they get it so much worse when they’re really little, too. It’s absolutely heartbreaking.

I know exactly what you mean. I always wanted to take on their pain and sickness myself rather than see them suffer!
