Years ago when my husband and I first met, I thought I was too cool for Harry Potter. Being a few years older than me, I found it funny that he was so into the Wizarding World, and yet I had no interest. Lo and behold, he sucked me into a world of witches and wizards, spells and elves.
On Monday, I had the unique opportunity to see a matinee, just me, a muggle getting my last slice of Harry Potter. It was a special treat.
Ordering the tickets was almost as magical. Through Fandango, you can order your tickets online. I knew that, but I didn’t know there was also an app for that!
Since my husband was working, I dropped Emma off at my parents’ house for a few hours so that I could catch the matinee. This was my very first time seeing a movie in the theater all by my lonesome. After 50 minutes of previews (sheesh!), the movie finally started. It had been so long since I read the final chapter, so I was fuzzy on the details, but for the most part it seemed true to the book.
My expectations were quite high. I’ve invested all of these years being a fan of the series, and I think it was pretty well-done, but not off the charts. At times it was a bit predictable, but it’s still Harry Potter. I cried, not over the sad parts but for the fact that the series has officially concluded in all forms, book and movie. :(
As for the Fandango app, I will definitely be using it from now on. It’s especially helpful for us since our home is not near any theatres. The closest one is at least a half an hour away with no traffic. What if we drove all that way just to find out that the movie you want to see is sold out? Not an ideal situation.
Now that I know about the app, I can browse showtimes with my husband over a date-night dinner, and order tickets on a whim. No planning ahead required. And let’s face it, planning ahead is not one of my strengths. I need more apps like this in my life.
