See a Charles Dickens Christmas Classic at Walnut Street Theatre

By Heather

We received complimentary admission. This was our experience.

The theatre can be hit or miss with kids, and that’s why we love taking them to see children’s productions. America’s oldest, Walnut Street Theatre is a beautiful historic landmark located in downtown Philadelphia and oddly enough this was the first time visiting for all of us.

We saw Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and the show was just about an hour long, perfect for wee ones who want a taste of theatre. The kids enjoyed it but my six year old grew weary about half way through. Light snacks were offered for sale at the refreshment stand which is always helpful when you’ve got hungry kiddos in tow.

About the Walnut Street Theatre For Kids Series:

Performed on the Walnut’s mainstage for kids in grades K-6 and their adult friends, Walnut Street Theatre for Kids Series lets young people watch their favorite stories come to life! This season features entertaining musical adaptations of beloved family classics that parents and grandparents will want to share with their children and grandchildren.

Upcoming kid-friendly shows include:

  • R.L. Stine’s GOOSEBUMPS: Phantom of the Auditorium
    February 2 – February 10, 2019
  • Pinkalicious: The Musical
    March 29 – April 13, 2019
  • Fly Guy: The Musical
    May 31 – June 8, 2019

We are looking forward to hopefully seeing Matilda. This is a regular production running over two hours but my kids loved the film.
