Saving for a Sunny Day

By Heather

My husband and I have always been savers. We try and cut back costs wherever we can so that we can contribute to our savings accounts. We’ve been told all our lives to save for a rainy day, but it’s not only rainy days we need to save for. The sunny days are what we live for, and they matter most, don’t they?

beach

I was lucky enough to grow up at the Jersey Shore. Being a beach girl practically from birth, I was always swimming in the water. Even to this day, the beach gives me a sense of peace. Watching my children experience the shore brings me back to those carefree summer days of my childhood.

Currently we visit the island for day trips which is easy enough; it is not too far away from home. But we hope to one day be able to afford a vacation home at the shore. Not only would it be a dream come true, but it would also be a sound investment. If it ever comes, that will be one sunny day for our family.

Life is so unpredictable, and while it is important to live in the moment, you also have to prepare for the future. We should be saving for all of the days, no matter what they may hold for us. We must prepare by saving for the future, and most people these days are not saving.

No matter how you envision your sunny day, SunTrust wants to support you.  They want to inspire and motivate through advice, tips, and tools so you can live for a sunny day rather than save for a rainy one.
