Rudolph’s Gift Guide Day 4: SavvyGalDesigns/ChuckEBryd Vinyl Wall Decals Review and Giveaway!

By Heather

**Contest Closed**
Every year as the holiday season approaches, I try to think of new ways to spruce up my home. We usually end up hosting at least one of the major holidays. While browsing the wonderful world of Etsy, I found two really neat vinyl decal shops, ChuckEBryd Wall Art and SavvyGalDesigns.

Jeanette and Chuck have been married for about 12 years and are blessed with 6 children and 10 grandchildren. By day, Chuck is a carpenter and sandcarving/graphic artist, and Jeanette is a graphic designer and glass/jewelry artist. Their home studio is located on the edge of Jasper and Newton Counties in Northwest Indiana.

Says Jeanette, “We love designing and finding unique designs to help make decorating your home easy and fun. Special requests is our specialty.”

I was sent the Cherry Blossom Branch for review. This was my first experience applying a vinyl graphic, and as I unravelled it, I felt a lump in my throat. Even Jeanette had told me that a graphic this size was intimidating to even a seasoned professional. Gulp. I couldn’t mess this up, I’ll be posting pictures! The only saving grace was knowing that this isn’t permanent; I can easily remove it if it’s a disaster.

Luckily my husband was there to lend a hand with the biggest part – the branches. After reading over the instructions, we went for it. First, the instructions said, you must hold the graphic in place using 2″ painters tape, making a hinge at the top. The next part of the instructions confused me. It says to peel off the backing of the graphic and to start applying it to the wall from the top down, but the image next to these instructions seems to show it being unpeeled from the bottom. Common sense told me this couldn’t be right. So, we pulled the graphic away from the wall and started to gently unpeel it from the backing and marry the graphic to our wall. Once we were done with the branches, I went ahead and added the blossoms and birds. It was nice to have the freedom to add exactly what I wanted, where I wanted. For beginners, I think we did pretty well. And after all of the stressing, it really wasn’t very difficult.

There were a few tears and it’s not perfect, but it looks pretty darn good if I say so myself! One issue I’m having now after it’s up is that the vinyl is lifting up from the wall in a few areas. I keep tacking it back down with my fingers. Overall, I’m pleased but I would definitely recommend starting out with something smaller on the first try! :)

What do you think – how did I do? Do you want to try this in your home?
