Does it ever bother you to dish out big bucks for organic this and that, only to serve your children’s meals on plastic and melamine with questionable origin? It’s something that sort of rubs me the wrong way, honestly. Glass and china dishes are too dangerous for little hands but plastic makes us worry. The folks and Rooware have some exciting news for us, mommies. Rooware is an eco-friendly children’s tableware collection made from an innovative bio-based plastic. Rooware’s new tableware is made from plant-based plastics: no BPA, phthalates, lead or melamine here! Microwave safe up to 45 seconds and some are dishwasher safe, too boot. The Rooware line features cups, plates, bowls and utensils with removable divider bowls, snap on handles and trainer tops. The pieces feature cute little funky characters called the Earthsaverz to keep things interesting for a range of user ages.
Rooware sent over the Lexie Rootensils in pink and the Lexie Roobowl, also in pink. I didn’t mind this terribly, even though I have a son and generally prefer more gender-neutral colors [as opposed to pink]. The truth is, dinnerware is more for function more than form.
Bonus: Rooware’s packaging is made from 100% recycled paper and vegetable inks. This purple set is really cute, and I love the cups:
The line just debuted exclusively at http://www.rooware.com. The retail pricing is as follows: Plate, $19.95; Bowl, $14.95; Cup, $12.95 (coming soon), Utensil set, $7.95. In April 2012, tableware sets will become customizable, allowing children to choose outfits and accessories for the characters.
Rooware currently has a 10% off sale on their site, with use of code YAYROO upon checkout. So you should CHECK them OUT!
