Playtex Drop Ins Bottle System (Review & Giveaway)

By Megan

Laura L is our winner!

When my son was a few weeks old, after breastfeeding had been established, we introduced a bottle.  He took it well on occasion when it was offered for the next few weeks, interspersed with nursing.  Then, one day, he stopped accepting it.  Lucky me!  Daddy’s night time feeding sessions were a thing of the past.  There was no avoiding public nursing, no matter the situation.  I tried everything I could think of to get him to retry bottles, including buying a number of brands in a failed attempt to reintroduce bottles so I could keep my feeding options open.  Safe to say, then, that I’m familiar with more than a few brands of bottles.

dropins_groupWhen I got my hands on the new Playtex Drop In Bottle system, I was immediately impressed.  I remember the drop in system from twenty years ago when my mom used Playtex drop ins to feed my brother and sister.  Well this system has gotten an update, girls!

I was impressed with the soft, pliable nipple.  The slow flow rate was also impressive – holding the bottle upside produced slow drops, not a stream and not nothing, either, which I think is important.  In this way, I believe it mimics the let down of a breast.  The bottle itself is cute and utilitarian; the inserts are where it’s all at here.  Molded plastic drops in neatly, there’s no messing about.  It forms a tight seal once the nipple cap is screwed into place.  Simply drop in, fill and attach the nipple!  I see that as the bottle drains, the insert collapses, eliminating excess air in the bottle and thereby cutting down on gas in baby.  When you’re done, toss it!  No sterilization to worry about – the inserts are presterilized.  Clean up is that much easier with the Playtex Drop In system.

As for Jack, he’s still a boob man.  I don’t feel that any bottle will change that – he just prefers the real thing.  But if I were to use bottles, I would definitely consider the Playtex Drop In system.
