Shaving is something I have to do for work pretty much every single day. I have always loved the idea of using an electric razor, but they do not always work so well. I was excited to test the new Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000 wet & dry electric shaver and I’ve been using it for a month now.
When I took the shaver out of the package I noticed that it’s slightly larger than the series 8800. The three shaving heads are larger and more flexible which equates to 20% more hair coverage in a single pass and it features 8 different directions for better ease of use. The more coverage I get, the less irritation and less time spent shaving. Nice.
When I started to charge it, the lithium-ion battery took a full charge in just one hour (which provides up to 50 minutes of shaving time) and it has a display which indicates battery power which is a really great feature. If you are in a hurry and can’t wait an hour to charge then only three minutes of charging time will be enough for a single shave. Another cool feature was the 3 different speed settings for personalized comfort. Rather impressive off the start. One thing to note is that you can’t plug the charger directly into the shaver itself you have to use the charging stand.
My goal, as with every other guy, is to shave as quickly and closely as possible. For the first couple of weeks, I started off shaving dry. When I shave, I go in every direction for the closest shave possible so I wanted to see if the Series 9000 was up to my number of strokes and irritation challenge. As I shaved, I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was. I was expecting the same irritation I’ve experience with other electric shavers but with this shaver I felt much less friction. Again, the larger heads equates to less strokes which did not leave my face red especially when I went over the same spot a few times. This was a huge plus.
Now, in terms of shaving closeness and the amount of strokes, the Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000 wet & dry electric shaver are my closest and quickest shaves yet. I tested it out on long hairs and short hairs and it was able to do the job sufficiently. I was very thankful I didn’t have to go over the same spot a many times. I did think it was a little tricky to shave my upper lip area under my nose but as I went in all different directions I was able to satisfactorily trim that area. Plus, it comes with a much nicer side burn trimmer.
I tested the Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000 wet & dry electric shaver on my wet face and it took a little longer to finish and with the same result, close shave with even less irritation. Another great feature is that it’s easy to clean because it comes with a self-cleaner called a SmartClean System, which cleans, dries, charges and lubricates all with the touch of a button. Cool. The travel case is another bonus.
I’m a pretty tough critic. After scrutinizing the Series 9000 shaver my conclusion is that it performed extremely well and passed all my criteria. Philips Norelco keeps raising the bar; they really put a lot of time into building a high quality shaver. I highly recommend this Philips Norelco Shaver Series 9000 shaver and I guarantee you will be satisfied. It’s available at Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com and other fine retailers.

I’ll have to look into one of these. My husband has to shave daily for work and I’m always looking for ways to help him out in that area.

I think my husband goes above and beyond by continuing to be a better person. He works hard, is working a side business and is there for his children. Even when he wants to just sit and watch television, he gives them his time, at every turn.
I like the idea of this razor. I’ll have to check it out. I know we’re constantly buying razors and it would be great if it didn’t irritate his skin.
