Hello readers, my assignment this time was to provide an analysis and review of the Philips Norelco Shaver 8800 Series 8000 wet & dry electric shaver. My beard grows in rather quickly, and daily shaving can be cumbersome and painful, so I was excited to give this electric shaver a try.
As I took the device out of the package and started to charge it, the lithium-ion battery took a full charge in just an hour (Philips states this provides up to 20 days of shaving time) and it has a display that indicates battery power, cleaning status and travel lock which are really great features. Also, if you are in a hurry and can’t wait an hour to charge then only three minutes will provide enough power for a single shave. Rather impressive off the start. One thing to note is that you can’t plug the charger into the shaver itself; you have to use the charging stand.
The design of the shaver and the three rotating pivot heads far exceeds all of the electric shavers I’ve used in the past. Philips Norelco really put a lot of time into building a high quality shaver. The goal is to shave as quickly and closely as possible. For the first couple of weeks, I started off shaving dry. When I shave, I go in every direction for the closest shave possible so I wanted to see if this shaver was up to my number of strokes and irritation challenge. As I shaved, I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. I was expecting the same irritation I’ve experience with other electric shavers but with this one I felt much less friction. It did not leave my face all red; especially when I went over the same spot a few times. This was a huge plus!
Now, in terms of shaving closeness and the amount of strokes, this shaver has given me my closest shaves yet. I tested it out on long hairs and short hairs and it was able to do the job adequately. Not as close as shaving with a razor, but close enough. It’s a nice break from regular shaving and doesn’t leave my face and neck all bloodied – so that’s a plus! I was very thankful I didn’t have to go over the same spot a hundred times. It was a little tricky to shave my upper lip area under my nose but as I went in all different directions several times and I was able to satisfactorily trim that area. I tested the Philips Norelco shaver on my wet face and it took a little longer to finish and but same result, close shave with very minimal irritation.
Electric shavers require occasional cleaning, and this one is very easy to clean which is great. The Philips Norelco Shaver 8800 Series 8000 wet & dry electric 3D shaver can be purchased for around $250, making this an excellent practical gift for Father’s Day!
