Our stay at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton in Lancaster

By Heather

doubletreelogo
The Amish Country is one of our favorite places to visit.  It has to be one of the most relaxing places on earth.  We enjoy taking in the beautiful hilly landscape and picturesque farm life.  Seeing how the Amish live, in such a peaceful, simple way, a trip to this area makes you feel as though you’ve traveled back in time.

Lancaster County is about two hours away from where we live, so although day trips are doable, they’re long.  We’ve only visited the area once with Emma.  As any parent knows, long trips can be difficult on the little ones.  Four plus hours spent in the car in a single day isn’t fun for anyone, really.

Last weekend we had a taste of the good life, by calling the new DoubleTree Resort by Hilton our home for a night. Upon checking in, I was greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie. I loved the welcoming vibe.

DoubleTreeLancasterLobbyThe lobby décor was equally impressive.

We had a partial view of the golf course from our room on the 5th floor.  It was appointed with a flat panel television, Wolfgang Puck coffee maker, refrigerator, hairdryer, toiletries and more.  The room was decorated so beautifully, just our style, and everything is so new and clean.

DoubleTreeRoomThe standard room includes two queen beds so of obviously we needed rails for Emma.  I was impressed with how quickly the front desk responded to our request, in well under five minutes our request was fulfilled.  In March when we stayed at a five-star hotel, we waited hours and then only received one rail.  Night and day.

Just having a place to rest in the middle of the day, and freshen up before dinner would have been enough for us. But the DoubleTree Lancaster is so much more than a room.  With so many features and amenities, this resort is a destination in and of itself:

• Business center
• Free wireless Internet access
• Two on-site restaurants
• State-of-the-art fitness center
• Indoor water playground
• Victorian chapel
• 9-Hole Golf Course
• Lighted tennis courts
• Full-size basketball court
• Duck Pond
• Free bus tour
• Signature Sweet Dreams sleep experience
• Hilton HHonors® reward points

DoubleTreePoolsEmma had a blast playing in the indoor water playground.  This is on the ground level of the building adjacent to the adult pool area and the fitness center.  There are even a few arcade games in the area.

Before we turned in on Saturday night, we dined at the onsite restaurant, Café 24 Hundred. We enjoyed a nice quiet meal at a reasonable price. The perfect end to a busy day.

Our experience with DoubleTree Lancaster was so enjoyable that on the way home we all agreed we wished our stay was longer.   These reformed day trippers will definitely be returning soon.

Over the weekend, we visited the Strasburg Railroad, the Choo Choo Barn, and The Amish Village – more on those adventures later.  :0)

While we were provided a complimentary night’s stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lancaster, the opinions stated above are my own.

With havin so much written content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement? My website has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my authorization. Do you know any solutions to help prevent content from being ripped off? I’d really appreciate it.

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Ie. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Thanks

Howdy would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having a tough time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something completely unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
