Winner – Penny Zeni
I’m envious of anyone who has a big laundry room with only one door. Ours is tiny, and it’s the pass-through between our garage and the house so even though we added cabinets, we still struggle with storage in such a small space.
When I saw that this little Robby Wash Laundry Ball will replace about 12 months of laundry detergent–and the required storage area, I had to see what this was about.
The ball is filled with pellets. You just toss the ball in with your laundry in the wash cycle. There’s nothing else required – no detergent or softener. This is how Oransi explains the process that makes this possible.
Its activated macromolecules are gradually released through the wash, dissolving dried-in stains by generating ions which activate the water molecules. This increase in the pH enables the activated molecules to penetrate deep into the fabrics and attach themselves to the stains. As the motion of the drum agitates the clothes, the stains come away easily from the fabric and dissolve in the water.
This pack contains 10 ounces of macro-molecules (equivalent to 75+ lbs of washing powder) which is said to clean for about 12 months. This is based on doing one load every 3 days, so in our house it will last six months going by that formula. Which is still pretty great.
Does it really work?
I put the Robby Wash Ball to the test today, tossing the rather futuristic-looking ball in with a batch of mixed laundry. To be honest, it made me nervous. I saw no suds, and couldn’t smell the soap at all. When the laundry was done washing I moved all of the clothing into the dryer, and the Robby Wash Ball onto the shelf. Oransi recommends letting the ball air dry between washes. I tossed in a dyer sheet and started the dring process.
I didn’t expect much from this little ball, but my clothes came out clean and stain-free. They don’t have that strong scent you get with a typical detergent, but this is a great hypoallergenic alternative for those who have sensitive skin, or for someone who doesn’t care for strong fragrances.
