This first week on the Nutrisystem Select Program was a giant leap for me. Since Halloween, my grazing has been out of control. First there was a ton of leftover Halloween candy. Then I ate my way through Thanksgiving and Christmas, oh my. Temptation was too strong to resist and I couldn’t stop myself, until Nutrisystem came along.
I threw out all of the leftover cookies, open candy was discarded and I focused on my goal. I’d like to lose about 30-35 pounds.
On day one I was starving, all day. Nutrisystem’s foods are delicious, but strictly portion controlled, and my stomach was still stretched beyond belief. I was used to eating ridiculous portions, and all the wrong foods, so I knew that it would take some time for body and mind to adjust to these changes.
As the week continued, it did indeed become progressively easier. As I learned about what add-ins would sustain me and keep me on track, I stocked my fridge with those items. That’s right – add-ins. The Nutrisystem Select Program requires you to add other foods from your fridge, fruit basket and pantry so you’re not just eating from the “big brown box” that Nutrisystem sends you.
My favorite proteins to add in are hard-boiled eggs. For dairy, I grab a mozzarella stick, babybel or a plain nonfat greek yogurt. I need to expand my horizons, but it’s a start. Other things I couldn’t survive without are fresh fruit and giant salads. The salads really help round out the meal and fill me up longer. What I continue to struggle with is the evenings. I find I am most successful if I can put off my snack until 4:30 or 5:00 and then eat dinner around 7-ish.
As for the Nutrisystem foods, all of the meals have been delicious, the frozen meals being my favorite. The only things I don’t care for are two snacks, the nacho chips and cheese puffs. The desserts are fantabulous, I try to savor them.
This is the buffalo chicken dinner, and I added a low calorie tortilla and steamed broccoli.
I am still adjusting to this new way of eating but I feel as though I am learning how to properly eat, both in regard to portion sizing and eating more healthfully.
This wasn’t the massive loss I was hoping for, but I have learned a lot in this week, and overall I feel more healthy and energetic. I am eating a lot of whole foods instead of the processed stuff I used to reach for, and more than anything, the other Nutrisystem Nation bloggers and the support I am receiving from Nutrisystem is keeping me going.
I’d love you to join the Nutrisystem Nation right along with me. Follow the link or call 1-888-853-4689.
By participating in the Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program I am being provided with the program and food at no cost to me.
