Closed – Congratulations, Ľubaša!
Having been an artist (I haven’t done anything creative in a long time), I know how much work goes into creating fine art. I really appreciate the beauty and creativity contributed by artists, and I’ve found a new source that will allow me to appreciate and purchase art from all over the globe—Novica. I love the fact that I can own a piece of art made in small town of a country I will probably never visit, and help support a family that may not have access to the internet to otherwise expose their works.
When I was contacted by Novica to review an item, I was a little overwhelmed by how many different types of products were available there. There are items for the home, jewelry, sculptures, clothing, and so much more. I was very tempted by the sterling silver jewelry section, but I opted for something to put my jewelry into, this ‘White Jasmine’ Soapstone jewelry box. I needed something like this for our bathroom vanity for when I take my jewelry off at night. You see, Spencer, my pesky cat likes to nock my rings and earrings into the sink drain for fun. He once tossed my diamond studs in there – thank goodness I was able to save them!
It arrived in the most beautiful hand-made paper wrapping.
I chose the soapstone box for practical reasons, but this jewelry box is not ordinary by any means. Just look at the intricate beauty. $36.99 seems too low a price for this item.
Sculpted in soapstone, white jasmine forms an exquisite arabesques lattice. Gulam Rasool is a master at traditional jali or openwork carving. This octagonal jewelry box is as beautiful as it is useful.
It has a hinged top, which I wasn’t expecting but was very pleased with. It also came with this storycard about the artist and his work of art as well as a handwritten postcard thanking me for my patronage. It was such a beautiful personal experience.
Where I work part-time as a marketing manager, I am responsible for purchasing corporate gifts from time to time. It’s not easy finding a gift for a CEO or VP of a company. What do you get for a person who has most everything? Novica has a great section of unique gifts that also help to support artisans from around the world. I will be suggesting this site as resource—especially with the holidays approaching.
