Nintendo Labo: Virtual Reality for your Switch

By Heather

We received a Labo kit to experience and offer our honest feedback.

The Nintendo Switch is one of the best things to happen to the gaming world for both kids and adults. My kids thoroughly enjoy the system and us parents love the reinvention of Mario and Friends with nods to their past.

My son has been asking for Labo and when I looked online I wasn’t too excited about it, I’ll admit. But I really didn’t know what it was and now that I do, I’m blown away. We all are.

Nintendo Labo ($79.99) provides a Virtual Reality experience for your Nintendo Switch, with its own games and a whole new way to play. The kit comes with six Toy-Con projects including the Toy-Con VR Goggles, Toy-Con Blaster, Toy-Con Camera, Toy-Con Bird, Toy-Con Wind Pedal and Toy-Con Elephant – as well as a Screen Holder and other accessories.

The pieces for each project come as flat pieces of cardboard. Just punch out the pieces and assemble according to the onscreen instructions. Even my seven year old was able to assemble his own projects with a little help from Dad.

Our favorite so far is the Toy-Con Blaster. We all took turns blasting the bad guys, these bright pink blobs. Virtual reality is way cool, and we’ll definitely be purchasing the expansion kits that are available for under 20 bucks.

How neat! My son would love this. He’s all about Nintendo stuff and does have a switch. I’ll have to show him this.

This seems like a lot of fun for the kids to do. It gets their mind running to think about projects. I like the idea of having them put something together before they can use it.

Oh this seems super fun for people who love games! We aren’t super into video games but seems neat!
