We have well water, and other than the occasional nasty sulfur smell we experience with running water, the other nuisance caused by hard water are stubborn spots on our glasses. It’s extremely annoying and embarrassing when we have guests over.
At our previous house we had a water softener but we decided against installing one here. It’s just a pain to maintain because you have to keep it filled with softener salts. So we just deal with the realities of having hard water.
We use Cascade pacs exclusively because they do the best job at cleaning our dishes. The pacs are great because they’re not messy like the liquid detergent I used to use. We just started using the new Cascade Platinum variety and while the spots haven’t disappeared completely, I have noticed an improvement in the number of spots.
Additional info on the Cascade Platinum:
- Delivers Cascade’s best clean with a premium, advanced triple action formula that helps prevent residue on your dishes, and even filming on your machine.
- Scrubs away tough 24 hour stuck-on food.
- Eliminates the need to pre-wash dishes.
- Has the Grease Fighting Power of Dawn.
