I’ve written before about all of the beloved animals in my life. The furry members of my family. Each and every one of them were blessings, and none of them were purchased.
After Kevin and I were married, he suggested we get a cat. For years I resisted. I was a dog person, and for the longest time I stood my ground, saying I’d rather our home be animal-free than to share it with cats.
But his argument was a good one. Cats would fit into the life we had, when we both worked full-time jobs. It wasn’t fair to keep a dog cooped up in the house all day, crossing its legs. Waiting for us to return home.
One day, long after Kevin stopped asking, I gave in. I so missed having an animal in my life, I was even willing to get a cat. So we visited Pet Smart to go and find one. What we found were the cutest little 8-week old kittens. Two male tabby cats, brothers. As I held one of them – the one to later be named Spencer – he touched my face with his paw. I guess you could say he adopted me.
Since we hated to split up two brothers, and we liked the idea of companionship, we decided to take them both home with us. And so Winston and Spencer became our first kids. The cute video below demonstrates their playful personalities.
I’ve learned that I don’t have to choose. I don’t have to be a dog person or a cat person. I love all animals. They give their whole heart to you. They’re never mean or spiteful. They just want to love and be loved. How could you not fall for that?
Thank you for the lovely review of AnnieWear and for sharing your rescue story. Winston and Spencer are too adorable! In our family, we always had cats until this year. My nephew adopted a dog Wilson and as predicted we all FELL in love with him as well!.
