Last year when our finished basement was near completion, we had to select our flooring. We had opted for builders grade carpet upstairs when we built our home, and we’ve lived with that dreadful mistake for eight years so we knew we wanted to to purchase great quality carpet and padding for the basement. We also knew we wanted to choose a darker color because the beige color we have everywhere else shows every single stain. We considered the SmartStrand carpet when comparing and contrasting.
We were told by an independent party that it was the most stain resistant carpeting you could buy because of the special fiber called triexta that exists only in Mohawk carpets. And let’s face it, my two children know how to make a mess; It’s their specialty!
The Mohawk Anniversary Sale is in effect now until October 27th, and to be honest I’m a little upset that there was no sale when we were shopping for carpeting. With the sale you can save up to $500 on new flooring* or save 50% on select carpet**. Everyone loves a good deal, especially when it means you can also get exactly what you want.
After dinner tonight, I made an ice cream sundae for Emma. I decided to let her use our Mohawk carpet sample as her placemat. Can you imagine serving your kid a syrupy, chocolatey, sprinkley sundae right on your carpet floor? For once I was encouraging her to be messy and guess what she was actually extremely neat! Go figure!
So what I had her do is do some finger-painting with the hot fudge. I’m pretty sure she thought this was the coolest thing ever. This is before cleaning the carpet sample. She delivered the second time around.
And this is after cleaning. I’m amazed at the cleaning results. This is the carpet you want when you have children or pets, or clumsy people!
The other concern I have with carpeting is the large dents from heavy furniture. I like to move around furniture from time to time, and I like that each SmartStrand is shaped like a spring instead of other fibers that are straight. This helps the carpeting stand up to heavy traffic and heavy furniture because it bounces back from the impressions.
In the Mohawk Anniversary Sale Sweepstakes you can enter to win one of the following cash prizes: $2500, $1000 & $500. There will be three winners who will be announced on October 6th, 13th and 20th. Wouldn’t some extra cash be nice around the holidays?

Sounds like a great product! Could use some of that at our house.
Those are pretty great results! We have pets and kids so we could really use something that could stand up to them all!
In our home, we have nothing but hardwood or tile. Tried to stay far away from carpet do to allergens and unforgivable stains. Nice to know that they now have carpet out there that is more acceptable to life.
I love the results! I would love to redo my carpets.
Okay, those are some pretty amazing results! WOW!
I need some carpeting in our home office. We have some in there now, but it is getting older and needs replaced.
We live in a two bedroom apartment and I wish our landloard would invest in this carpet it looks so soft and pretty oh and it not a ulgly brown babber shop looking carpet seriously I can sweep my carpet to get stuff off. The coffee stains the juice spills oh this would be wonderful to have here.
I never knew what Builders Grade Carpet was until the rental we are in now. It is HORRIBLE. Thirty one days and we move to our new home. I already have a Mohawk rug picked out for our deck, still working on one for the inside.
WOW. I need some of that right now! Our carpets always looks so dingy from having to clean spills from my 6 year olds, (or my husband LOL), we have been thinking about replacing it and now I know where to look! Thanks for sharing!
Hhmmmm! I really have two bedrooms and one hallway left to do and I’ve been putting it off for so long. We only have carpeting in our bedrooms and hallway everything else is hardwood. When we first moved in our bedroom carpet had been destroyed so we replaced before moving in and decided to put the others off but the time is coming I love the look of the darker colors, I had chocolate brown back in our old house and I loved it but went with a berber here and love it. Sounds like a great deal!
