Last year when our finished basement was near completion, we had to select our flooring. We had opted for builders grade carpet upstairs when we built our home, and we’ve lived with that dreadful mistake for eight years so we knew we wanted to to purchase great quality carpet and padding for the basement. We also knew we wanted to choose a darker color because the beige color we have everywhere else shows every single stain. We considered the SmartStrand carpet when comparing and contrasting.
We were told by an independent party that it was the most stain resistant carpeting you could buy because of the special fiber called triexta that exists only in Mohawk carpets. And let’s face it, my two children know how to make a mess; It’s their specialty!
The Mohawk Anniversary Sale is in effect now until October 27th, and to be honest I’m a little upset that there was no sale when we were shopping for carpeting. With the sale you can save up to $500 on new flooring* or save 50% on select carpet**. Everyone loves a good deal, especially when it means you can also get exactly what you want.
After dinner tonight, I made an ice cream sundae for Emma. I decided to let her use our Mohawk carpet sample as her placemat. Can you imagine serving your kid a syrupy, chocolatey, sprinkley sundae right on your carpet floor? For once I was encouraging her to be messy and guess what she was actually extremely neat! Go figure!
So what I had her do is do some finger-painting with the hot fudge. I’m pretty sure she thought this was the coolest thing ever. This is before cleaning the carpet sample. She delivered the second time around.
And this is after cleaning. I’m amazed at the cleaning results. This is the carpet you want when you have children or pets, or clumsy people!
The other concern I have with carpeting is the large dents from heavy furniture. I like to move around furniture from time to time, and I like that each SmartStrand is shaped like a spring instead of other fibers that are straight. This helps the carpeting stand up to heavy traffic and heavy furniture because it bounces back from the impressions.
In the Mohawk Anniversary Sale Sweepstakes you can enter to win one of the following cash prizes: $2500, $1000 & $500. There will be three winners who will be announced on October 6th, 13th and 20th. Wouldn’t some extra cash be nice around the holidays?

We LOVE Mohawk rugs ! They have super quality. so I am sure the carpet is just as great! You did great on stain removal!
You ain’t a’ kidding that IS the kind of carpet I want with kids and my husband. We got stainmaster on ours when we ordered, but we found out pretty quickly, it wasn’t treated or just didn’t work right.
What a great test. We have all hard wood but this is great info to have a rug cut!
I always wonder about carpet tests. My toddler and puppies really need something durable. Will looking into this one.
Oh wow that came clean! This is most definately needed in my house! The stains happen constantly, and I’m forever scrubbing! We got rid of all carpets for hardwood, but I would LOVE some in the bedrooms..
Wow, that really came clean.Amazing.We are getting ready to replace the only 3 rooms in our house, the bedrooms, with new carpet. I will make sure I look into Mohawk for sure. I want a carpet that is easy to clean because of my dogs.
We just bought a Mohawk area rug and I LOVE IT! Especially with little kids, I really need something stain resistant. When we’re ready to carpet our new house in the spring, it’ll be our number one brand to consider.
I can’t believe how well it worked, you can’t even tell there was anything there to begin with!
This sounds like a great carpet. We’re going to redo the “Man Cave” soon which is in our basement so I’ll be sure to pass this on to hubby.
