Being a working mom, I have good days and bad days. Bad days usually stem from changes of circumstances (first days of daycare, just returning from maternity leave – like I have been dealing with), sick days, and lots of beautiful days outside when I just want to play with my kids in the park and not be stuck in an office today. But the good days are there, knowing i’m working towards something, and hopefully showing my girls how to balance it all one day. How do you explain/discuss all of this to your toddler?
Walnut and his mom agree that it would be fun if he could go to work with her, and they fantasize about the adventures they could share. While they realize that scenario can’t always happen, Walnut’s mother assures him that he is always on her mind, and together they come up with ways to have a physical presence for each other even when at work or at school. Working parents know that in spite of time away from home, their children are never far from their hearts and minds. This light-hearted story provides parents an opportunity to reassure children on their importance in busy parents’ lives.

I think the story is adorable, one that your little one would definitely enjoy. I think this would make a great gift for any of your working mom friends and family, either for a baby or a “just because” gift when she’s about to go back to work. I know I would have really appreciated something like this to read to my girls.
