A few months back, I posted a review of one of the Midwest Monkeys Safe Sizer™ plates. By making sure that foods fit within the 1/2″ diameter ring that is molded into their toddler plates, this product is a great aid for the prevention of choking.
We had a scare last month. Emma was eating her goldfish crackers. We didn’t realize it, but the package we had bought from the store is the basketball variety, so there are circular shapes mixed within the goldfish. She shoved a bunch of cracker into her mouth and was choking. I whacked her back a few times and cleared her airway in seconds, but it felt like minutes. The Safe Sizer plate would have prevented this incident if we had used it. (Shame on us).
