So often we see our service men and women return home with obvious physical injuries. A loss of a limb or an injury that causes chronic pain. Maybe it’s easier for people to relate to those stories. We don’t always talk about the emotional side effects that our heroes and their families are plagued with.
Meet the Marcum family. You may recognize them from specially marked packages of Brawny towels.
Tom returned home from his tour a changed man. The family has had to learn a new normal. Tom has had to undergo several surgeries and needs assistance daily, so his wife April has taken on a new role as his caregiver. The caregiver retreat sponsored by Wounded Warrior Project helped her come to terms with their new reality and helped her turn a corner. There’s nothing more therapeutic than leaning on others who truly know what you’re going through.
Wounded Warrior Project™ is an organization which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.
Get involved and help to support this initiative by ‘Liking’ the Brawny Towels Facebook page, signing the , and $1 will be donated to Wounded Warrior Project™. Brawny towels is so close to its $500,000 donation goal, which runs through December 31, 2012.
Take a moment to thank this family for carrying such a burden for their country. It’s the least we can do after all they’ve done for us.
