MD Solar Sciences Sunscreen (Review)

By Heather

MDSS_LOGO_cmyk Do you dread applying sunscreen, as I do?  My husband is always reprimanding me for going without it.  I have an olive skin tone and don’t burn quite so easily, but I do get a slight burn after hours spent in the sun.  Of course I realize that I should always protect my skin, but the thought of slathering on that thick smelly, sticky substance isn’t all that appealing to me.

The other factor that I know many folks consider when choosing sunscreem is the chemical ingredients.  MDSolarSciences dedicated a full two years to researching the safest ingredients both for people and the environment in which we live.

MD The three samples we received are mineral-based formulas that use a blend of multi-particle size zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.   The SPF 30+ Mineral Gel is non-comedogenic and great for people with skin problems.  This sunscreen is perfect for protecting the face.  The SPF 40+ Mineral Screen lotion is great for adults, and the SPF 50+ Ultra Mineral Screen Gel is the lotion I use on Emma’s skin due to the higher SPF.  All of the mineral screens are safe for both children and adults, and I love the fact that they are unscented.  They provide the great benefits of sunscreen without the strong scent.

My favorite thing about MDSolarSciences sunscreens, though is how light it goes onto the skin.  It’s more akin to a skin lotion feel than the sunscreen I’m used to using.  It absorbed into my skin without leaving that shiny, greasy effect that you usually have with sunscreens, and a little truly did go a long way.

The prices for these three sunscreen range from $29.50-$36.00 for a bottle.  Each box of sunscreen comes as a sunscreen system with an MDSS SolALERT card to measure UV Index.   It’s a nice compact guide that will come in handy on the beach or by the pool this summer.

No compensation was received for this post, but I did receive the product discussed free of charge in order to facilitate my review.  All of the opinions above are 100% my own.

I’m a very very sporty guy. Especially in the summer…I enjoy backpacking, riding my bike, the beach, surfing, you name it. So this means that I sweat a lot, of course. Thanks for your review. My wife sent me to your site and I happened upon your blurb about MD SolarSciences. Gotta say, great pick! I use their no-touch body spray. It feels great and is really sweat-resistant. Thanks for the review.
