Have you heard of toasted skin syndrome? I saw the news story a few weeks ago on this. Apparently, the heat can damage your skin among other thing nasty things. I have noticed a burning sensation on my legs after using my laptop for several hours. If you use a laptop, I’m sure you’ve felt it too.
When I bought a netbook a few months ago, I knew I needed a cooling pad to help keep the computer cool. I hadn’t gotten around to getting one, and I’m glad I didn’t because I found something even better. The Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 is great both for comfort and optimal sound.
This lapdesk has built in speakers on either side which give off a rich stereo-quality sound. Just connect the attached usb to a port on your computer, and it’s ready to go. I love the ease of a plug-and-play feature, a common denominator with Logitech products – like the wireless keyboard and mouse I reviewed over the summer.
It’s made for netbooks and small laptops up to 14 inches. The padded mesh base is angled ten degrees. Since it’s large enough for my big 17 inch laptop, I do use it for comfort and cooling, but it does block the speakers and muffles the sound a bit. To take advantage of all of the features of this lapdesk, it is best used with my netbook.
The sound controls are right at your fingertips, I like that I can mute the volume by pressing a button just once. Another clever feature is the tabs that lift up to keep your laptop in place.
I use the Logitech Speaker Lapdesk N550 daily – I absolutely love. It can be purchased direct from Logitech for $59.99, and if you spend a minimum of $75.00, shipping is free.
No compensation was received for this post. I was sent the products to try at no cost to me, but this had no influence on the opinions expressed above.
