Long before Carrie Bradshaw revived the look, I owned a golden nameplate necklace. It was the quintessential accessory of the 80s, and anybody who was anybody had to have one. But I don’t care what you’re up to in the city these days, that necklace is out-date-ed. It’s time to melt down that god-awful thing and give that poor gold another chance.
The best updated version of the nameplate necklace is the Initial Pendant made by Lady Vanderbilt. Because not everybody needs to know your name, and it’s a much prettier way to wear your initial. It can be your first initial, your last initial, or it can stand for something completely unrelated to your name.
The initial hangs from an 18" gold colored chain. It is made if sterling silver vermeil and plated in 14-karat gold. Along with your initial three shiny Swarovski crystals dangle beautifully. It is a very feminine, pretty piece of jewelry. The complete opposite of that old nameplate necklace.
From all of the pretty pendants I selected the Miss Initial “H” for Heather. That’s my name, don’t wear it out. It’s my new favorite necklace, and I’ve already worn it out! It’s not loud and it’s delicate enough to be worn all day but also pretty at night with the ability of crystals to catch and reflect light.
