Karen M. was the lucky winner!
When it comes to strollers, the lighter the better. Especially now that we’re in the full-blown toddler stage and don’t always need to wheel Emma around. She likes to walk, run and skip everywhere these days. So if I’m going to toss a stroller into the back of my car, I usually opt for the lightweight one because it takes up minimal space and doesn’t break my back.
There is a but-you knew that was coming, right? If we’re going to spend an entire day site-seeing or walking around a theme park, we need a stroller with some of the amenities that our umbrella lacks. Like space. We can’t go without adequate storage for things like diapers, clothes, snacks, and it would also be nice to be able to get a small cooler in there too. Cup holders are another thing we sacrifice when we go umbrella. There are occasions when we can do without, but other times our needs are greater.
On the other hand, I really do love the ease of my umbrella stroller, not only because it’s lightweight but it’s very easy to steer. We lose that benefit when we take the stroller that’s part of our travel system.
The Kolcraft Contours® Options® 3 Wheeler promised to be a nice happy medium between our other two strollers, and I couldn’t wait to see the bold Berkeley pattern in person.
Usually when anything needs to be assembled, my husband gets the job, but since it had to put it together before he had free time, I took the challenge. I followed the instructions, and had it assembled in less than an hour. Once I was finished, Emma immediately put her teddy bear inside and wheeled it around the house. It’s that easy to steer.
The Kolcraft Contours® Options® 3 Wheeler has that futuristic look that you see the movie stars pushing around in the magazines. In other words, it looks expensive and it feels expensive too. Did I mention that it’s easy to steer? I can navigate the streets using just one hand. There is also a ginormous storage basket.
We wanted cup holders, and we got ’em. Just below the very cushy padded handlebars are two cup holders and a large tray for your cell phone, keys, wallet, etc. Baby has a large cup holder to the left of his or her seat too.
About the seat, it’s reversible so that baby can face you. I’ve always loved strollers with this option. And for the really young babies, the stroller comes with an attachment which will allow you to use this stroller with most infant carriers. Other than the large storage basket and cup holders, I really appreciate that the seat will full recline for naps.
Really, the only cons for me are the fact there is no snack tray, and the wheels are rather wide so the stroller won’t navigate through narrow aisles. However all of the other pluses I discussed above by far outweigh the cons.
