As you may remember me telling you in my recent post My New Parenting Role, I lead quite a busy life and at times it is quite challenging to keep track of everything. My calendars are cluttered with appointments, classes, and sports practices and some days there is so much jammed into the little calendar box I can’t even read it. But what does a cluttered calendar really tell you about my day? Nothing, just that we are busy. It doesn’t help tell the story of the day or share the memories that may have been created.
That is where Journal 10+ comes in. When I was first asked to review this journal my first reaction was, eh, I don’t have time for that. A journal? I’ve tried that and I never keep up. However, I was curious about the 10 year concept they presented and so I accepted the offer.
Journal 10+ is part organizer and part memory keeper. It contains daily pages with four lines for you to jot down memorable events of the day. For those days that you have more to say, there are carry over pages. You simply write in what page to find the rest of your entry and then continue on that page. I found that most days the four lines were just the perfect amount of space. For days I didn’t have much to say I just jot down where we were, such as soccer with the score of the game, dance, etc. What is so great about this layout is, each page is its own date. That means there is one page for January 1 but with ten years worth of space for entries. How neat is it that in a few years I can just look up at the top of the page and see what I was doing today?
Also included in the journal is a section for an address book, a section for recurring dates to help you keep track of birthdays and anniversaries, a goal planning section and a 12 year calendar. This really makes it the perfect one-stop tool for keeping organized and eliminates the need for multiple books, calendars and charts to keep track of everything.
I have found myself enjoying taking a few moments at the end of the day to jot down some of the memorable moments. I’ve even found that if I miss a day or two, when I do find myself with a few minutes, I can jot down things that happened over the past few days. It really doesn’t take long and I love the concept of having an on going memory keeper and event tracker. I look forward to ten years down the road and being able to look back at today and know what my family was up to.
