With the encouragement (and company) of a friend, I toook my first Zumba class last night. Having not exercised regularly in a very long time, I was nervous. Would I fail miserably, or just embarrass myself? Those were the only two outcomes I could imagine.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t that bad. Remembering when I took my first kickboxing class when I was in my early 20s, and how I couldn’t make it through the entire class for the first several visits, I was expecting the same. But this was much easier on the body.
Of course I’m pretty sure I didn’t do many moves correctly. I did keep moving though, even if I couldn’t get the footwork and hip shakin’ down. I like that the dance moves sort of distract you from the fact that you’re actually working out.
It was a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to going back next week. But next time I’ll wear a tank top. It was steaming hot in there!
Have you ever tried Zumba?

Good for you! I have tried Zumba in the safety of my living room. But I think it would be way more fun with a group of women!

Good job, girl! I have not tried it but I have a friend that raves about it. Heck, I work out consistently but I was sore from swimming this weekend. So sad!

I haven’t tried it, and doubt I will. Not because it doesn’t look fun, but I am about the most uncoordinated person you will ever meet :)

No – I have wanted to, but the only place that offers it here is a Place called Health Works… & they chg a hefty membership fee, plus chg a month dues AND chg for each class…. wish I could find somewhere that offered it more reasonably priced…. Congrats on making thru yr class – looks like a great workout!

Wow…in this economy?
I was surprised the gym near me includes all of the classes so I may join!

My daughter loves it, but she’s a dancer. I can’t pick up a lick of choreography, so I know I’d look every bit the fool. No can do.
