Cream cheese is a staple in our house throughout the year, but especially around the holidays. There are so many delicious recipes that I use it for, from appetizer dips to my favorite Italian Cheesecake. I was able to score a great deal on Philadelphia Cream Cheese, so I stocked up. Ryan helped me unpack and he decided to build a tower out of them, but I had better plans.
On Thanksgiving I decided to treat our guests to a yummy appetizer that my sister has been making for years, and she just finally shared the recipe with me.
Hot Jezebel
1 cup apricot preserves
1 cup pineapple preserves
1/2 cup horseradish, drained
3 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
8 oz. brick Philadelphia Cream Cheese
This is one of the easiest recipes you’ll ever make. Just add the first five ingredients to a medium-sized bowl and mix well with a spoon or a spatula. You can store the mixture in the refrigerator until it’s time to serve.
Then, unwrap an 8-ounce brick of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and place it on a plate. Pour the hot jezebel sauce on top until the cream cheese is covered. This recipe makes more than you need for one appetizer, so you can store leftovers in the fridge for a snack long after the guests have gone.
But the food isn’t everything. The key to a great party is making sure guests are entertained, because there is nothing worse than a house full of quiet people.

I love ice breaker games like this Christmas-themed Who Am I printable I made. Just cut out the labels and attach one to the back of each guest so that they cannot see. Players have to ask the other guests a series of yes or no questions to guess who they are. It’s a fun game, and a great way to get people talking.
