Holiday Gift Guide: Epson Artisan 730 All-in-One Printer

By Heather

EpsonlogoUntil today I hadn’t installed a printer on the laptop I bought a few months ago. Over the past several months, I’ve become so fed up with my old wireless all-in-one machine, so I wasn’t in any rush to install it here.

However, each day it gets more and more difficult to manage without a printer. I don’t print a ton of documents, but when I need to print a letter to be mailed, or an important document I need to sign, I like to know it’s going to work and work efficiently.

But let’s face it, I’ve been cheap over the years. I never spent more than $100 on a printer because I never saw any reason to. And needless to say, it’s been one disappointment after the other. And with those cheaper printers, I’ve found that the ink costs twice as much.

Printer

It doesn’t even look like a printer — love that.
So I’ve just traded in my old machine for the new midnight blue Epson Artison 730. And I’m realizing now that the old saying, you get what you pay for, couldn’t be more true especially when it comes to printers. It’s a bit more expensive than my last printer, but the quality doesn’t even compare.

Right off the bat I noticed the sleek lines on this machine. It doesn’t look or feel like your typical printer. This one seems more professional and better made.

The basics
While this printer is not technically all-in-one since it is it not fax capable, I rarely ever used the fax feature on my other printer. The Epson Artisan 730 will print, copy and scan, which is just what I need. The printer is Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ and I’d expect nothing less, since I compute wirelessly.

The extras
The two and half-inch LCD and smart touch panel are pretty neat. These tools allow you to quickly access the features you want to take advantage of. The entire panel tilts as needed, adjustable by hand.

Panel

The Artisan 730 features the fastest 4″x6″ photo printing speeds in hi-def quality. Wonderful for when you have a frame you want to fill quickly. The Artisan is rated #1 in photo quality and there is even a separate tray for your 4×6 photo paper which is super convenient – no need to change the paper based on printing needs as the tray beneath houses your letter-sized paper. You can even scan images and convert them to coloring pages!

Phototray

In the next few months I’m planning on scanning all of our old family photographs and once I can get to it, I’ll want to share with other members of the family. I love having the feature to scan directly to a cd/dvd. There are too many great features just like this one that don’t even require computer use.

What I’m really excited about is the fact that this printer comes equipped with Epson Connect, a new portfolio of cloud and mobile services which enable you to print documents and photos directly to the printer itself or from a mobile device. Google Cloud Printing, Email Print and Epson iPrint are all included.

This is a great printer, and a wonderful holiday gift for that tech-savvy person on your list.

Disclosure: No compensation was received for this post. The printer was provided to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.

I like that Touch Panel.. I am shopping around for a printer that the kids can print from the homework PC in the other room.. right now they email it to themselves and reopen on the other computer. The WiFi would make it so much easier..
    Thank You for the review!

Except for the no fax, that looks very much like the one I just reviewed. I totally love how you can do everything right from the touch panel, and not have to control it from the computer!
