My boys are what I’d consider “boys boys”. They play hard and they like a lot of the typical “boy” toys. My daughter, not wanting to ever be left out of any fun, will often jump on board with whatever it is my boys are playing with. When the Air Storm Z-Tek Cross Bow by Zing Toys arrived at our door, I heard a chorus of “who’s is it?” and “can I try it?” and “that’s cool!”
This toy did not stay in the package long. It was opened up and put to good use! My 10 year old son was able to get started with it right away, figuring out how to load it and use it without ever having read the directions. Since we all know how much kids love to take the time to read directions and figure out how things work (ha!), this was great that it was straight forward. Each of the kids took turns trying it out and finding different targets to take aim at which were, luckily, not each other. The boys began to have a target competition to see who could should furthest, better, and hit the targets provided within the packaging.
While the kids have declared their love for their new toy I noticed a few things. Loading it takes a little getting used to. While the boys eventually got the hang of it, my daughter still can’t quite get it without a little help. Also, according to the package, the “Zartz” are supposed to stick to anything, anywhere and then self release after 15-30 seconds. We found that no matter how many times we took aim and no matter what the target, the darts did not stick but rather bounced off. The kids didn’t let this fact deter the fun factor, though my son did keep asking why it wouldn’t stick to anything.
Based on my kids reactions, I’d have to assume other kids would enjoy the cross-bow as well. With the holidays right around the corner, you may want to consider adding the Cross Bow to your shopping list.
