Holiday Card Themes

By Heather

This is my favorite time of year to take Christmas card photos. The leaves are changing colors and the weather has cooled down. I only have so much time before all of the beautiful leaves fall to the ground so even though it’s only October, I have to get a move on. There are only 8 more Fridays until Christmas. Yikes!

I like to get an idea of what cards are available before even taking my photos. It’s helpful to know what you’re going for because it determines the type of image you’ll want to capture.

We don’t send out Christmas letters so I like to choose a holiday card theme that fits our lives and tells our friends and families what is going on in our life.

baby

1) New Baby | If you’re lucky enough to have timed it right, you can send out a combo birth announcement and holiday card. Who wouldn’t love this one?

vaca

2) Vacation | A special vacation is often the highlight of our year. Why not show friends what fun you had?

moved

3) Just Moved | Give loved ones a sneak peak into your new home and life.

love

4) Love | Newlyweds can have fun expressing their love on a holiday card. Even a selfie would work.

pet

5) Furry friend | How adorable is this little kitty in a cup? I love the idea of welcoming the new member of the family on the Christmas card.

This post was inspired by Paper Culture who offer eco-friendly modern Holiday Cards, stationery, wall decor and gifts.

What are your holiday card plans?

So many cute options. I love the baby, the kitten and the couple in the snow. We will be getting ours ordered after we move next week.

I usually don’t do cards because they just seem like a waste. But maybe I’d feel different if I got a custom photo one done. I’ll have to talk to my photog friend to see if she has any suggestions & open dates.

We’re actually taking our Christmas card picture today while we’re out hiking. I tend to go for the family year in review card because we have so much happen and I’m not a serial facebook sharer so these cards work out well for us. :-)

I actually haven’t sent any in a few years and probably won’t this year either. Sometimes I buy them because they’re so cute anyhow. lol

I love the vacation pics. I have a pic of my daughter when she was about 9 months old peeking out of our hotel in Puerto Rico and it’s a classic. :)

We actually don’t do cards anymore. I found that we didn’t ever receive any so it just didn’t make sense to keep sending them.

I used to do such an amazing job on Christmas card prepping and giving. I truly stink at it now! Last year I actually gave out 12.

I love the Happy Everything one. It’s less likely to offend anyone, and include everyone. I usually go with something simple or something incredibly sarcastic.

These holiday cards are really beautiful. I’m already planning what photo we are going to put on our holiday cards this year.

We usually try to do something wacky with our cards. Last year we were all made up of zombies and the year before that we were all wrapped up in Christmas lights. I’m not sure what we’re going to do this year.
