Harmony Barber Shop in Magic Kingdom

By Heather

The very first thing we did when entering Magic Kingdom on our first day was to head to Harmony Barber Shop. Emma got a fabulous bang trim there back in 2011 (photos above and below) and we just loved everything about the place from its charming atmosphere to the pixie dust. It was the cheapest trim and style too at only $5.00. I can’t believe how little she was there – so cute!

The Barber Shop is located in the right-hand corner of the courtyard as you enter Magic Kingdom. If you’re not looking, you might miss it. It’s right between the firehouse and the big gift shop.

My advice if you don’t want to spend the coin on the Bippity Boppitty boutique or if your child won’t sit that long – is to visit Harmony Barber Shop. We tried to make reservations ahead of time but there was no availability until after our trip. They are very accommodating here though and will usually squeeze you in, especially if you arrive right when the park opens. We were told to return in about 45 minutes and that’s what we did.

My husband was hesitant to get his own cut since people mostly do this for their kids, but they will cut adult hair here. Even though it wasn’t his first ever haircut, we purchased the first haircut package for Ryan. For only $18 (it’s $2 less for a regular kids cut) you get a cut along with a certificate and a pair of mickey ears and of course a pouch of hair. Hey, it was his first cut in Magic Kingdom so that counts, right?

Since Emma didn’t need a cut this time, we got her an updo with gel and pixie dust for only $5.00. She was thrilled, and when it rained later that evening she was very concerned about losing pieces of confetti. She was happy and while I did consider the BBB, this was much easier. I don’t think she’d enjoy sitting for so long and I could envision her complaining about a tight updo later.

I’ve never been to the Magic Kingdom. Would love to go someday. I had no idea there was a barber shop there. That’s cool! And the price sure is reasonable!

How cute is that? She must have been so happy! My best friend had her daughter get her first haircut there a few years back and it was cute.
