Saying goodbye to another year is always a bit bittersweet for me. Time is fleeting, and I’m aware of this as every new year approaches. It reminds me to make the time count, and to focus on what’s really important.
The year 2010 didn’t start out very well. My husband’s role as a consultant had ended and he found himself unemployed again, but another contract role carried us through until he finally landed a fabulous new permanent job at the end of the year. It took some time, more than we had hoped to wait, but we are so grateful that our prayers were answered in the end and we can finally breathe again.
My daughter seemed to grow up right before my eyes in 2010, and as a mother of course that’s a bit sad but also very exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing what the year has in store for her and us as a family.
This blog, my other baby has also grown quite a bit. I’m so very proud and grateful for the opportunities, and I hope to bring so much more to the table this coming year. What I really want to do is make a difference on a larger scale.
Over the past year, I attended my first blog conference, BlogHer and I finally got to personally meet a few of my favorite bloggers. In 2011, the Disney Social Media Moms conference awaits and I’m eager to learn more and mingle with the talented moms and their families.
I continue to struggle with finding a balance between this blog and my personal life, but I think I’ve made progress. We’ve met some wonderful new friends and have reconnected with old pals. For 2011 my personal goals are to focus and health and family.
Happy New Year! May 2011 be a year of health, prosperity and peace.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this past year and your hopes and dreams from 2011 – please share!

Happy New Year Heather! I’m happy to read 2010 turned around for you and the fam and you have good momentum going into 2011. I’m working on balance myself and sadly, spending less time blogging and more time on money-making ventures. All the best to you and I hope we get to meet at an event of conference at some point.

Happy New Year, Heather! One of my goals this year is do more volunteering for charitable organizations and use my blog for a greater good. Like you, I’d like to make a difference. Good luck on your goals!

I learned so much this year about what I do and don’t want for my blog. In a way I’m glad I took on too much because it allowed me to see some things really clearly. But I’m so glad the holidays are over!
Personally, it was a tough, tough year and I miss my kids something fierce. I am SO grateful for the time we spent together over Christmas though!

I’m glad you had that nice break with them – and hoping for you that you’re able to bridge that gap in 2011.
I hear you on the taking on too much – I have been trying to step back somewhat so that I can assess.

I totally know how you feel! I had my very first (unexpected!!) baby girl this year, and she just turned 5 months old on Christmas day. It amazes me every single day how much she grows and changes…. 2010 was a year of HUGE changes for me: I turned 30, (how did THAT happen??lol) had a baby, moved to a new home, lost my job (unemployed with a baby?!?), and much more! While dealing with so much change has been scary, its also brought lots of wonderful surprises. I never would have imagined how much I’d love being a mommy :)
I’m getting ready to start a blog myself, and have been doing a bit of research on how to get started. Since you’ve been pretty successful with your blog, do you have any tips or advice for someone just getting started?? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated!
Happy 2011 to everyone!

Sounds like an amazing year for you, other than the unemployment – that stinks! But it may work out for the best anyway since you can focus on the baby right?
I would say try and find your niche and be yourself. If you need anything, email me!

That’s awesome – I didn’t stay up for the count down and I’m glad I didn’t because we had a long day today.
