True to the company’s name, Green Toys, Inc. manufactures classic children’s toys that are eco-friendly. When I first heard of this company, I wondered just what they meant by “green” toys. The term gets thrown around a lot these days. At Green Toys, Inc., it means that recycled plastic milk jugs are the main ingredient for their toys. It also means that the toys are produced locally, in the company’s own state of California, thereby reducing greenhouse gases.
To ensure safety, Green Toys are tested by third-party laboratories. The toys contain no traceable amounts of Phthalates or BPA and do not have external coatings. It seems like every day I’m throwing away cheap toys from which paint is chipping. I’m very cautious with the recent findings that many toys made in China contain lead. I am a Penny-Pinching Mama, but I will not sacrifice my daughter’s safety for a toy soley based on a cheap pricetag. With California’s strict safety standards, it’s comforting to find a brand that you can trust will not poison your child. I don’t have to worry when Emma plays with Green Toys.
Without being fun, a toy that’s safe for baby and planet is just pointless. Thankfully, Green Toys has that going for them, too. Emma loves playing with her Chef Set. At her age, she doesn’t get the concept of cooking a meal, but she will. Right now, she’s happy to clang the pieces together. While I wouldn’t recommend cooking with the plastic Chef Set, you can actually eat off this toy cookware. It is FDA approved for food contact standards.
